Though every major shift in the weather necessitates a change in what we wear, most of us get into the same car we drive year round, and rightly so. The mall never has a clearance rack of Audi A4s, after all, much as we wish that it one day would.
Audi, however, is releasing a limited 50-car run of ice-camouflage A4s inspired by Swedish pro-skier Jon Olsson. The Swede is known for not only being a world-class master of the slopes, but also a major car enthusiast who unites his two passions by driving fantastic cars to the tops of mountains, then skis ridiculously fast down them. Observe his personal RS6:
Audi has been getting into unique partnerships lately, as our post on the Audi-inspired high fashion dress for a Twitter marketer showed. We love to see this willingness to experiment with new forms and mediums, and think that collaborating with a skier during the winter months is an excellent choice. Olsson designed about 100 different camo versions before settling on the one that will adorn these 50 cars, and each will also feature a roofbox, S-line exterior package, sport suspension and 19″ winter tires.
The reason we think this is so cool is that news stories about a super-rare car being discovered and sold for crazy amounts of money are consistently interesting. We read them and think, wow, in this age of mass production everything, it would be cool to have something designed just for you. We never typically think about the people who owned those super-rare vehicles initially, and we think that things like that don’t happen anymore.
Thanks to companies like, Audi, however, you can have a piece of history and maybe even pass it off to someone special. At a cost of about $62,000, this is practically a steal. Bravo to Audi for pursuing unique, memorable projects.
