Leaked Image of the 2014 S1 Quattro Surfaces

Last week we wrote about a teaser video from Audi that said something big was going to be revealed tomorrow, Wednesday the 12th. At the time we followed Internet speculation that we would be shown the 2015 Audi TT, given that it was signaled by the Shooting Brake Concept at the North American International Auto Show in January.

The word on the web today, however, is that we will in fact be introduced to the new S1 Quattro. An image of the new vehicle has surfaced with the hatchback standing on an amorphous, Martian-like surface of brown. The words “Pocket Rocket” are set behind the vehicle in a font that we can only assume is an homage to Boy’s Life magazine, and a digital watermark from autofilou.at adorns the body, presumably the website that first posted the leak.

In any case, we will know for certain what the new car is when Audi officially reveals it tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CET (3 a.m. EST), which you can watch online if you really love Audi or have insomnia. Obviously it is too early to give specifications on the vehicle’s performance, but best guesses are that it will have one of the ubiquitous turbocharged four-cylinder engines that are everywhere these days, this one producing about 230 horsepower, with a six-speed manual transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive.

Beyond that, there’s not much more that we can say definitively. At this point, it could be the S1, the TT, or something completely new (the “D1” say). Stay tuned.
