A leak, in its fullest sense, is a tiny trickle that, more often than not, does not stop. So it is with the 2015 Audi TT, a vehicle that has been submitted to so much analysis, wondering and fawning since the Shooting Brake Concept in January that when it officially revealed in Geneva this week, we wonder how much the world will go “Yep, that’s what we expected,” versus “Oooooooooo,” like we wish they would.
And admittedly, by posting these new leaked photos of the Audi TT, we are part of the problem. It is not the place of the blade of grass to question the coming of the seasons, however, so post we must. In terms of these photos versus the sketch drawings we saw the other week, not a lot has changed. In the photos the new TT is slightly less Speed Racer-ish than its sketch cousin.
Its lines aren’t quite as severe or thrilling as the sketch’s, though this could be simply a matter of perception and photographic composition. If we wanted a true comparison, some enterprising Internet user would try to recreate the sketches in actual photos taken in Geneva this week, which would be quite a challenge with the crowd.
The door handles in the photos look a bit more, well, normal than the flush indentations in the sketches, and the side mirrors might be taller in the photos, as well. We’ll be very excited to learn what Audi has been saving for the actual show this week besides the Virtual Cockpit which we saw at CES and the new MQB platform. Stay tuned.
