Leaked Audi TT Artwork Previews Design Changes

We can all go home now. Go home, pack a bag, but then head back into work because sketches of the new Audi TT have appeared on the Internet and you’re going to want to do everything you can to buy it.

The leaked imaged are of course a precursor to the Geneva Motor Show next month because as the old saying goes, “News never breaks in Geneva.”

Horizontal lines and, surprisingly, width appear to be the leitmotifs of the new TT. The hood and mouth have a Knight Rider personality to them, and the car appears flattened-out. Now that we’re typing, we detect a sense of inwardness, a crouching, low-to-the-ground posture that says less “VW Beetle” and more “I’m going to rip your face off.”

The headlights will be LED, and overseas markets will get the Matrix technology which spares oncoming vehicles the glare of your rays (U.S. lighting regulations have to be updated before Matrix can arrive in America.) A turbocharged four-cylinder engine will likely be standard.

Sharp-eyed fanboys have noted that the Audi rings have shrunk in size and migrated off the front grille and onto the bottom of the hood. It’s a clever bit of visual styling that likens it to the R8, and reminds us of trying to dress like our older siblings when growing up.

So what do you think about the new TT design? Has the return to width-centricism offended you beyond repair or does it strike you as just right? Leave us a comment or email comments@leithmail.com to speak up.
