As we look back at 2013 for Audi, it’s apparent that it was a year of many cool things. To check what Audi’s been most excited about, we combed through their Facebook page from January to December and selected the most newsworthy, interesting and just plain awesome moments of the year. Therefore we give you: the top five Audi moments of 2013.
1. 26th consecutive record-breaking month in February
Audi has big plans to come out with more models over the next couple of years, so it’s a good thing that their current models are doing so well. It’s great to see that their investing in the future and are coming up with new models to wow us.
2. 2.5-liter turbo wins 2013 engine of the year
Naturally you’ll find this in the TT RS, TT RS plus and, somewhat surprisingly, the RS Q3. 2.5 liters isn’t a lot to work with, but Audi’s engineers have obviously earned their stocking stuffers this year by securing a coveted international award.
3. World Premiere of the new A3 and S3 sedans in Shanghai
Because wow.
There are supercars and then there is diesel. Somehow Audi decided that not only could it concept a V10 fueled by diesel, it could also borrow Lamborghini concept design elements, give it supercar stats like zero to sixty in less than four seconds, and keep the fuel efficiency above 30 mpg. Amazing.
5. The Fleet Shuttle Quattro for Ender’s Game
We’ve become accustomed to seeing Audi as the car of the future thanks to science fiction movies like I, Robot, Minority Report and Iron Man. For the 2013 film Ender’s Game, however, Audi created a vehicle that was completely digital, and was never physically on location, just added after the fact in post-effects.
