Audi Connects U.S. Veterans with Specialized Careers as Technicians

A little more than a year ago, Audi realized that members of the U.S. armed services returning home could use better employment opportunities. Some find good jobs, others find jobs not so good, and yet another subset doesn’t find work at all. To counteract this deficiency, Audi created a program to connect servicemen and women with service departments at Audi dealerships. One year later, more than 100 U.S. military veterans have become employed through the program.

Veterans to Technicians operates on a simple premise: veterans with specialized skills are uniquely qualified to deliver the high levels of technical precision needed to repair Audi vehicles. Veterans who participate receive unique tax benefits, fast-track training to become Audi-certified, hands-on coaching and interview preparation assistance. These components enable veterans to put their skills to good use.

The average veteran participating in Audi’s program has three to six years of military experience, and has qualifications in one or more of the following areas: aviation maintenance, avionics/electronics repair, light wheeled vehicle repair, tracked vehicle repair, maintenance supervisor, and supply and parts clerk. Combined with Audi’s sophisticated diagnostics and computer training, the level of performance possible as an Audi technician is exceptional.

More talented technicians is good for consumers because it increases the quality and efficiency of repair, as well as reduces waiting time. With more Audi vehicles joining the automotive pool every day—and plans to increase sales in the coming years—it’s imperative that Audi continually improve and enlarge its resources to repair and maintain its vehicles.

“The veterans placed through the Audi Veterans to Technicians Program have already made a profound, positive impact on the high level of customer service found at Audi dealers across the United States,” said Reinhard Fischer, Director of Strategy, Audi of America. “While we are pleased with the initial veteran response to the program, it is imperative that the program continues to grow and flourish as the demand for highly-skilled service employees increases.”
